IRON OUT FATIGUE

-

Inexplicably tired? Have your iron levels checked – and say you’re a runner. ‘Fatigue can occur from iron levels at the lower end of normal, which some doctors may say is OK for non-runners because it doesn’t indicate anaemia,’ says Dr Delmas Bolin, a sports medicine specialist. If the reading is low but normal, ask for your ferritin level to be checked. ‘Ferritin gives you an idea of total stores of iron; if it’s low, you may need an iron supplement.’
