THE EXPERIENCE

This run, from Dore in Sheffield to Edale, showcases some of the spectacular scenery of the Peak District. This picture was taken while descending the grassy trail from Win Hill down into Edale on a bright winter morning.

LOCAL FARE

The Rambler Inn, next to Edale Train Station, serves local ales and homemade pies. Perfect for a postrun treat.

FAST FACT

The Peak District was the UK’S first national park, designated in 1951. It is not named after the hills, but after an Anglo Saxon tribe, the Pecsaetan, who settled in the area in the sixth century.

RACE IT

The Nine Edges Endurance Race, organised by Edale Mountain Rescue, is a 20-mile off-roader through the Peak District, with 900m of ascent. It takes place in September. edalemrt.co.uk
