THE EXPERIENCE

Spanning the Nam Khan River near the centre of the city of Luang Prabang, the bamboo bridge connects to wilderness trails and offers stunning views of the Luang Prabang Mountain Range and ancient temples. ‘ It’s one of my favorite runs in Southeast Asia,’ says Kaitlin Vanderbas.

FAST FACTS

The local community rebuilds the bamboo bridge each year when the water of the Nam Khan River is low, in October. The bridge gets swept away when levels rise during the rainy season from May to September.

LOCAL FARE

Luang Prabang’s night market (open from 5-10pm) offers regional specialties such as barbecued chicken and sticky rice.
