Your article on running for happiness (RW, August) resonated with me. I experienced a traumatic event in 2014 that led to depression. I wouldn't leave my home, which made the situation worse. Then my dad, who has done 22 Ironmans, suggested I take up running to take my mind off what had happened. I started slow, including runs by the beach for the feel-good factor. Gradually, going for a run became like my medicine. I’m feeling better and have done three half marathons. Not bad for someone who couldn't run down the street before!
