The area also covers the communities of Flemington, Cairns, Hallside, Overton, Lightburn, Westburn, Newton, Drumsagard, Hallside and Greenlees.

Secretary Jim Walker said: “Due to changes relating to the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils we are required to hold an election for community councillors.

“If you are concerned about the lack of youth and community facilities in the Halfway area we would love to have you join us as we begin our campaign to change things for the better.

“Having a full compliment of 18 new community councilors would send a strong message to the powers that be and show them we mean business.

“We are looking for a range of people to help us in our campaign, including retired people with some time on their hands who would like to support our young people. Parents of young families concerned about the lack of facilities and would like to help us make Halfway a great place to bring up their children.

“Please ensure you complete a nomination form and the Code of Conduct Form.
