Prices for VW’S new Touareg

The latest version of Volkswagen’s premium SUV, the Touareg, will cost from £43,000 when it goes on sale in November – and Volkswagen says that “excellent” deals are available for private buyers. But the company doesn’t actually specify just what these deals are, so, if you’re interested, the way to find out is to go to your local VW dealer where order books for the new range are being opened on August 27. Three trim levels will be available – SE, Escape and R-Line - with prices rising to £47,500 for the top-of-therange R- Line. Buyers can choose between two 3.0-litre diesel engines offering 204 PS and or 262 PS. All variants come with an eight-speed auto transmission. The latest 204PS diesel engine now emits just 173 g/km of CO2, 11 g/km less than before, putting it in a lower road tax band. On the outside, the new Touareg features revised bumpers and grilles, new alloy wheel designs, new colours and bi-xenon headlights as standard.
