Campaigners clock up 500 miles

Rutherglen Reformer - - You Decide -

With the Referendum campaign entering the final weeks Yes Rutherglen supporters reckon that they have, as in the words of the Proclaimer’s song, ‘walked 500 miles ’over the course of the campaign.

Yes Rutherglen Coordinator Margaret Ferrier said: “One of our members pointed out to me that they calculated they walked five miles during a nights canvassing or leafleting around the doors.

“As we have had over a 100 work days this year alone it’s easy to see how the mileage clocks up.

“But it will all be worth it to win a YES vote and we will be safe in the knowledge that with a win for YES all our foot blisters will be treated free of charge by a fully funded publicly owned Scottish Health Service.”
