Councillor praises Citizens Advice group

- Douglas Dickie

A councillor has heaped praise on the outreach service run by the Rutherglen and Cambuslang Citizens Advice Bureau.

Councillor Richard Tullett was speaking after paying a visit to the service in Whitlawburn, which is part of his Cambuslang West ward, last week.

The service, which runs in different areas through the two towns, is proving popular with people seeking advice on a range of issues such as energy costs and benefit enquiries.

As well as Whitlawburn, communities such as Cathkin, Fernhill, Spittal, Springhall and Westburn are all benefiting from the outreach.

On his visit to the Bonus Ball Centre, Councillor Tullett was able to sit in and listen to clients getting advice as well as speak to outreach workers to get more detail on the range of enquiries they get.

He said: “Having an outreach service in Whitlawburn is excellent and having spoken to local people I know how much it is appreciated.

“It is not always possible for people to make the journey down to Cambuslang Main Street where the CAB is based, so having a service on our doorstep is good news and one I know which the CAB are keen to highlight.

“I hope anyone throughout the Cambuslang and Rutherglen will give the CAB a phone and make use of this excellent service.”
