Have your say on plans for Cuningar Loop

-

Forestry Commission Scotland is inviting feedback from local people on the design plans for Cuningar Loop’s proposed Activity Zone.

Cuningar Loop is a £5.7m project that is transforming 15 hectares of derelict land on the banks of the River Clyde in Rutherglen into an attractive woodland park.

There will be three key features in the park’s Activity Zone, including Adventure Play, Bike Skills Park and Bouldering Park, which will be supported by a network of trails around the site.

The commission will be presenting design plans for the Adventure Play Area and the Bike Skills Park at Bridgeton Library today (Wednesday, September 3) from 2pm to 4.30pm.

Forestry Commission Scotland project manager for Cuningar Loop, Joneen Clarke, commented: “We’re presenting the design plans to give people a chance to see what we’re proposing and also to have their say.

“For the Adventure Play feature we have two mocked up models – the Giant Nest and Giant Spider Web.

“We will be choosing one design, so it’s a great opportunity for local people to give their input and we’ll progress with the most popular design.

“With the Bike Skills Park, we have concept designs for four tracks to be used in the space. This will include a balance track, beginners’ track, improvers’ track and pump track for advanced cyclists.

“Cycling Scotland is working with us in an advisory capacity and throughout the build we’ll invite along local bike clubs to get them involved in the design and construction, making sure the bike tracks are spot on.”

Landscape architects Davies White have been appointed to design and construct the Adventure Play area.

Bike trail specialist Architrail has been appointed to design and deliver the Bike Skills Park.

A company is still to be appointed for the design of the Bouldering Park.

If you are unable to make it along to Bridgeton Library, you can still have your say by emailing your feedback to cuningar@forestry.gsi. gov.uk before Friday, September 19.
