It’s important to restore a strong sense of national identity and self esteem

-

Nikolas A Litsardopoulos, Why I’m voting YES:

“I am a dual national. My father is Greek and my mother is Scottish. I was born and lived in Greece until I was 15 where I grew up with a strong sense of national identity.

Our history was proudly taught to us in school and I was proud to be Greek. I still am – I am now also proud to be Scottish.

I am voting YES because I have grown to love Scotland. It gave me a lot. As a young person with a Learning Disability I have had amazing help and support here. I was given a chance, an opinion.

I have epilepsy and I have fantastic care through NHS Scotland that is free to me.

I am voting YES to protect this wonderful health service. I learned a lot of the history of Scotland in the past 12 years. It’s a great history of a great country and people - but a people who weren’t as lucky as I was in Greece – they didn’t learn from childhood about their history and heritage. If they had it would naturally have become a part of them.

I am voting YES because I think it is important to give this back to Scotland through future generations.

I am voting YES because I believe it is important to restore a strong sense of national identity and self esteem in the Scottish people.

And above all I am voting YES because Scotland is a rich country with the ability and the resources to govern itself. It should not be ruled by Westminster governments who have tried to keep Scotland down, taken Scotland into illegal wars, put weapons of mass destruction on Scotland’s shores and purposely down the years deprived Scottish children from learning their own history in school.

So for me it has to be YES all the way!”
