Errors prove so costly for Clyde

But boss Barry boosts squad with signings

- Will Henshaw

Clyde boss Barry Ferguson blamed “stupid mistakes” in Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Berwick Rangers at Broadwood.

The Bully Wee fought back from 3-1 down after an errorfrom keeper Jamie Barclay, to earn a share of the spoils at Broadwood.

Speaking after the game to the Clyde official website, the former Rangers captain said: “It’s frustrating.

“We didn’t start the game well, but we came in and had a great spell the last 15 to 20 minutes of the half.

“We started the second half really well The goals were just silly mistakes. One was from a corner, which we work on all the time but Jamie made a blunder. He knows that though.

“For the third goal the defence let in a cross, which we also work on.

“We finished the last 10 to 15 minutes of the game as the team that I know we are. Overall, there’s more positives than negatives there.

“It’s up to me to work on the mistakes and I will work on it. The boys know that sometimes they’ve let themselves done. But it’s all part of the process, I’m learning as well. We’ll work on it.”

Barry reserved special praise for Cambuslang striker Michael Daly who came off the bench to net for the Bully Wee.

Speaking of the former Trinity High pupil, Barry said: “His attitude is first class. He never moans, as he knows sometimes you need to change the team.

“He came on and did really well. I’m pleased as he’s a really good guy to have about the dressing room. That’s what I’m trying to get more of.”

And Clyde announced that three new players will be joining their ranks.

Craig McLeish, Craig Halkett and Euan Smith have all joined The Bully Wee.

McLeish (24) has signed from East Kilbride FC on a one-year contract, with Halkett (19) and Smith (20) joining on loan deals from Rangers and Kilmarnock respectively, both until January with the option of an extension.

Barry said: “I’m delighted to get the three guys in. It’s been a long day with a lot of phone calls, but I’ve been chasing them all for a while so I’m pleased to have finalised the deals.”
