Movember is now underway, and news of the Reformer staff’s quest to raise money in memory of their late photographer, Brian Logue, has even reached the Scottish Parliament.

Rutherglen MSP, James Kelly this week lodged a motion congratulating our boys, as well as Brian’s son, Chris, for taking part in the annual challenge.

The motion - which only went live on Tuesday - reads: “That the Parliament congratulates Douglas Dickie, Jonathan Geddes, Kenny Smith and Will Henshaw of the Rutherglen Reformer who are taking the so-called Movember challenge in memory of their late colleague, Brian Logue; understands that, along with Brian’s son, Chris, the team are raising vital funds that will help tackle prostate cancer; notes that Movember aims to promote increased awareness of men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health, and wishes the Rutherglen Reformer team, and fundraisers across Scotland, great success with their efforts.”

James said he was delighted to back our fundraising efforts: “I have lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament not only to recognise the fundraising efforts of the staff of the Reformer but also in memory of the late Brain Logue, a photographer I got to know well as my time as MSP for Rutherglen and Cambuslang.

“Brian was a much loved and respected figure in the community and I wish the Reformer staff the very best in their fundraising and moustache growing efforts.”

Donations have already started coming in to our Movember site.

Our first donation came from Rutherglen company, PTS Clean, who said on our Facebook page: “We are delighted to contribute a little something to get it started and hopefully you will go on to raise lots more for a great cause. Well done guys!”

After just four days, the Reformer staff’s facial hair doesn’t seem likely to rival Freddie Mercury any time soon, but they’re getting there.

However, Brian’s son, Chris, is already sporting a well- trimmed little number.
