Rotary hear about volunteers’ work

- CLUBS NEWS

Speakers from the local community have taken centre stage at Cambuslang Rotary Club.

They received visits from the Friends of Cambuslang Park and the Cambuslang Bereavement Support Group a fortnight later.

Anne Flannigan and Joy Anderson from the Friends were making their third visit to the club.

On this occasion they spoke about the park’s centenary celebrations in 2013, and showed a video of the June 2013 gala day. At the end of the evening they presented the club with a copy of the centenary book produced to commemorate this special event.

By contrast, Cambuslang Bereavement Support group has only been in existence for less than two years but it is already providing a valuable source of support to local people coping with bereavement and loss.

Isabel Allan spoke to the club about how the dedicated team of volunteers had first come together to develop the service.

This now includes a twice monthly drop- in and a telephone support line also available twice a month.

All the Rotarians agreed that both these organisations are great examples of the voluntary work being carried out within the local community.
