Today (Wednesday) at 7.30pm the King’s Park Church Guild charity night takes place when the entertainm­ent will be provided by the Close Shave Barber Chorus.

Tickets, priced £3.50, include tea, coffee and home baking with the proceeds going towards Mary’s Meals and the Guild project, Heart for Art.

King’s Park Brass are looking forward to two key events in their calendar. The first of these is a coffee morning and book sale to be held on Saturday, November 15, in the large hall from 10am to noon.

Then, on Friday Novemeber 21, the band returns to Rutherglen Town Hall for its annual concert. The theme this year is Heroes and Villains.

Tickets priced £7 (£6 concession­s) are available from the Town Hall box office.

Another popular weekly activity in the church is the new youth club which meets on Wednesdays between 3.30pm and 4.45pm. This club is run in partnershi­p with Glasgow Life and is open to all local youngsters aged five to nine years of age.

The Woman’s Guild of Rutherglen Old Parish Church will be holding a Christmas Fayre on Saturday November 22 from 11am onwards.

Admission is £2.50 which includes tea/coffee and cakes, and a very warm invitation is extended to anyone looking for toiletries, Christmas cifts, cakes or soft goods.

Handcrafte­d items will also be on sale.

As always, facilities for the less able bodied are available.

Flemington Hallside Church is holding its Christmas mega fayre on Saturday, December 6.

This will take place from 11am until 2pm.

There will be two tea rooms, a Christmas stall, cake and candy, cards , towels, a bottle stall, candlecraf­t and knitwear, toiletries, nik-naks, gardening club stalls and a toy stall.

St Bride’s Parish Church in Cambuslang has a couple of events lined up over the next few weeks.

They will host a family night on November 15. They will celebrate St Andrew’s Night on November 29.

There’s a couple of events scheduled soon at Fernhill and Cathkin Church.

Upcoming events in Fernhill and Cathkin are:

November 29, Christmas Fayre, 10am-2pm.

December 18, Erskine Community Choir and Christingl­e service, followed by supper.

Croftfoot Parish is now holding two Sunday evening services each month, on the second and fourth Sundays.

A healing service will be held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm. The church will continue to have the healing hour from 7.30-8.30pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Stonelaw Parish Church is holding the Meeting Place every weekday, where visitors can drop in, drink coffee, browse their range of Fairtrade products and choose a secondhand book.

The idea of the Meeting Place is to provide an informal, comfortabl­e location, open to the whole community, for people to drop by.

It is open every Monday to Friday, 10.30am-12.30pm, and also Thursday afternoons 2-4pm and Wednesday evenings 7.30-9.30pm.

Flemington Hallside Church’s community cafe is running two days a week. Based at the church in Hamilton Road, the cafe offers lunches, snacks and drinks.

The cafe is open from noon to 2pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Cambuslang Parish Church’s community cafe is running each week.

It is held in the Kirkhill building hall and the organisers are inviting the local community to go along and enjoy a drink and a tasty snack in warm, comfortabl­e surroundin­gs.

The cafe is open each Wednesday from 10am until noon.

Rutherglen West and Wardlawhil­l Church’s weekly friendship cafe is offering a warm welcome.

The cafe runs every Tuesday from 10am until noon in West and Wardlawhil­l Parish Church in Western Avenue, with children welcome.

Burnside Blairbeth Church is holding its weekly Tuesday coffee morning. Tea, coffee and home baking will be served in the gathering area from 10am-noon. All are welcome.

The Salvation Army in Rutherglen has a number of clubs for kids running each week.

On Tuesdays, there’s Kids Alive! JAM (Jesus and Me). There’s songs, crafts, games and a Bible story, from 5-6.30pm every Tuesday, for ages five-11 years.

Each Wednesday, there’s the Kids Club, for children aged five-11, which also runs from 5-6.30pm.

There’s fun, games and a tuck shop.

There’s also the Sunshine Corner toddlers group, which meets every Tuesday with morning and afternoon sessions.

The morning session runs from 9.45-11.30am, and in the afternoon, it’s from 12.452.30pm. It is open to all pre-school aged children.
