Late strike downs Lang

-

Rossvale ............... 1 Cambuslang R ...... 0 Cambuslang relinquished the leadership of the division to Rossvale in a drab encounter at rain lashed Petershill Park.

It was maybe the 3G pitch or just the soggy conditions but the Lang looked out of sorts from the first whistle and Rossvale probably deserved the points.

Both sides swamped their midfield and fought to retain possession, a feature throughout the entire 90 minutes, and as a result few chances were created. That also caused a number of petty fouls with the referee seeming to be more ready to punish Cambuslang players.

Vale had the bulk of the efforts that did go in on goal and the Lang had keeper Finnigan to thank for keeping them in the game.

Finnigan had already been in action but his best was reserved for the 30th minute when the Rangers goalie made a tremendous triple save. First he blocked a shot then dived to save the follow up. The ball spun to O’Donnell who seemed sure to score but Finnigan twisted his body around to save on the line.

The only worthwhile efforts Rangers had on goal were drives from Grierson and O’Malley but both sailed over the bar. A free kick by Paul Burns was also too high to trouble Baskill in the home goal.
