Ru t h e r g l e n Po l i c e a re ap­peal­ing for wit­nesses after a man was spot­ted roam­ing around a church roof this week.

Po­lice were called to St Mark’s Church on Fern­hill Road in Ruther­glen at around 2.30am on Mon­day morn­ing.

A man was spot­ted walk­ing around the roof of the church. He is de­scribed as aged 20 to 25-years-old, dressed all in black. He fled the scene in an un­known di­rec­tion be­fore po­lice ar­rived

Con­sta­ble Richard Sam­son of Ruther­glen Po­lice said: “We be­lieve that he was try­ing to re­move metal from the roof, per­haps lead. Any­one who has any in­for­ma­tion can con­tact us on 101.” Ruther­glen’s MP and MSP are hold­ing a spe­cial joint surgery this week.

Labour pair James Kelly and Tom Greatrex will be in the Ruther­glen Ex­change shop­ping cen­tre this Fri­day, De­cem­ber 19, at 2pm.

They will be there till 3.30pm and any­one can ap­proach them to raise any con­cerns or lo­cal is­sues with them.
