Great send-off for Burnside teachers

-

Burnside Primary School are preparing to say goodbye to two of their most loved teachers.

Elizabeth McLean has been with the school for 32 years and Janice Mason for 21 years.

Both will be retiring at the Christmas holidays, and the pair are well loved throughout the school and will be sorely missed by staff and teachers alike.

Mrs McLean has had a long teaching career, having taught elsewhere, she joined Burnside Primary’s staff in August 1982 .

Mrs Mason has taught for 21 years at Burnside, starting at the school in August 1993.

Both Mrs Mason’s own sons attended the school and she even taught one of them at one point.

To show the teachers how much they will be missed, the pupils of Burnside presented both teachers with flowers last week at the school’s last assembly of 2014,.

Mrs Mason and Mrs McLean both say that they will really miss the children and staff at Burnside Primary, who they have enjoyed working with and teaching over the years.

They said that it had been rewarding to spend so many years at the school, playing a part in the development of so many children.

Both are looking forward to being able to travel outwith school holidays and getting involved in new activities.

Head teacher Helen McGarvey said: “Both teachers will be greatly missed but we wish them both long and happy retirements.”
