Re­former read­ers have one last chance to do­nate blood lo­cally be­fore the end of the year.

The Scot­tish Na­tional Blood Trans­fu­sion Ser­vice has an­nounced its next vis­its to the lo­cal area will be to Croft­foot Parish Church, 318 Croft­park Av­enue, on Wed­nes­day, De­cem­ber 30, from 4-7.30pm.

They will re­turn on March 10, to Ruther­glen Town Hall, from 2-3.45pm and from 5.15-7.30pm.

The ser­vice will then be at the Cam­bus­lang In­sti­tute, Greenlees Road, Wed­nes­day, April 8, from 2pm to 3.45pm and 5.15pm to 7.30pm.

Male donors can give blood ev­ery 12 weeks. That’s ap­prox­i­mately ev­ery three months or four times in a 12 month pe­riod.

Fe­male donors can give ev­ery 16 weeks or ap­prox­i­mately ev­ery four months.

Most peo­ple can give blood.

As long as you are fit and healthy, weigh over seven stone 12 lbs (50kg) and are aged be­tween 17 and 66 (up to 70 if you have given blood be­fore) you should be able to give blood.
