Ex-Stonelaw pupil man re­turns with choir

“The Trust gets a lot of support from the lo­cal churches but the work­load they have is out­with that, and it’s good for the com­mu­nity to try and support them.

“In the past we’ve raised over £1,000 for them and we’re look­ing for­ward to rais­ing some more.”

A grad­u­ate from the Royal Con­ser­va­toire of Scot­land, An­drew has per­formed on many oc­ca­sions with Scot­tish Opera, as well as work­ing with the com­poser James MacMil­lan, while he set up Cale­do­nian Voices six years ago.

He said: “There’s not many op­por­tu­ni­ties to sing in a cham­ber choir after you go into your twen­ties and go beyond the Na­tional Youth Choir of Scot­land.

“We re­ally wanted to cre­ate some­thing that was of a high stan­dard and we do about four con­certs a year.

The Christ­mas con­cert is this Fri­day, De­cem­ber 19, at Stonelaw Church.
