Ellie holds the cards!

A Cairns primary pupil has been quick on the draw this Christmas.

Ellie Ross ( 10) saw her snowman design picked by Tom Greatrex MP and James Kelly MSP for their Christmas card this year.

Joint runners up came from Cerys Polockus from St Blane’s Primary, Brendan Bulloch at Loch Primary and St Bride’s primary pupil Brooklyn Donnelly.

Every pupil who entered the competitio­n received a certificat­e from their local Member of Parliament and Member of the Scottish Parliament during a recent tour of all the primary schools participat­ing in the competitio­n.

This is the third year running the competitio­n, for primary six classes throughout Rutherglen, Cambuslang and Blantyre has taken place.

The entries were of an exceptiona­lly high standard and for the first time in the history of the competitio­n the winning design is on display at the Rutherglen Exchange.

James Kelly MSP said: “The high quality of the entries we received this year was just amazing and I was delighted with some of the exceptiona­l card designs.

“I would like to congratula­te Ellie on her excellent design, which will feature on our official parliament­ary Christmas card.

“A lot of work has gone into this year’s card and we would like to thank Morrison’s, Cambuslang, and Tesco Burnside for donating the prizes for the competitio­n.”

Tom Greatrex MP said: “It was great to visit Rutherglen Exchange for the unveiling of our Christmas Card competitio­n winner, Ellie Ross. We had so many great entries this year, and it’s great to be able to finally show off Ellie’s fantastic winning design.

“I would like to thank all the schools that took part and hope the pupils enjoyed participat­ing in the competitio­n.

“I’d also like to thank the manager of Rutherglen shopping centre, Jane Cowan, and all the staff for helping to publicise the competitio­n.”

James and Tom have also thanked PTS Clean, ECGFS Facilities and Rutherglen Exchange for sponsoring this year’s competitio­n.
