New dates to empty your bins

South Lanarkshire Council has confirmed the dates for wheelie bin collections during the festive period.

There is no change to those whose bins are normally emptied on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

However, with Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day falling on Thursdays and Fridays, the council has changed the collection days.

Those whose bins are normally emptied on Thursdays will have them collected on Saturdays December 27 and January 3.

And those who put their bins out on Fridays will have them emptied on Sunday December 28. Those whose bins are due to be emptied on January 2 should put their bins out as normal.

A council spokesman said: “Please ensure your bin is out for collection before 7am. We cannot guarantee the time that your bin will be emptied but it will be emptied on your day of collection.

“The only exemption to this will be during periods of extreme weather when we must wait until road conditions improve or if access is restricted.”
