Store’s fes­tive fun

Staff at Asda To­ry­glen cel­e­brated a Christ­mas cracker re­cently.

They were full of fes­tive cheer after tak­ing part in a huge amount of fundrais­ing over the past 12 months.

The store has raised a whop­ping £46,500 for var­i­ous good causes.

Thanks to kind­hearted shop­pers, Asda To­ry­glen was the top fundrais­ing store in the West Coast for Ra­dio Clyde Cash For Kids, who re­ceived £15,000 to help and support lo­cal chil­dren over the year.

Lo­cal schools and groups come into the store over the year to bag pack and fundraise and re­cently lo­cal pri­mary schools and the Sal­va­tion Army have en­ter­tained the cus­tomers.

Through the Asda Foun­da­tion, com­mu­nity groups have re­ceived £1800 from Asda’s Cho­sen by You Given By Us pro­gram.

To­ry­glen Com­mu­nity Hall Pen­sion­ers re­ceived £500 to help with their Christ­mas Cel­e­bra­tions and £ 500 was given to Castlemilk Fam­ily Day Christ­mas event.

To­ry­glen Af­ter­school Care were de­lighted when they re­ceived £300 to help with their Christ­mas cel­e­bra­tions.

Min­nesota Fats Snooker Club re­ceived £ 300 to help and support all the great com­mu­nity work they do with the pen­sion­ers and chil­dren at Christ­mas Time.

The store do­nated their Christ­mas tree to the To­ry­glen Com­mu­nity Base and helped with their Christ­mas fair and the Sal­va­tion army were de­lighted with the re­sponse for their Christ­mas Ap­peal.

And at the be­gin­ning of the year Asda To­ry­glen sold 750 CDs for the Clutha Ap­peal which raised a fur­ther £3750.

El­iz­a­beth Ar­buckle, com­mu­nity life cham­pion, was de­lighted at the to­tal achieved.

She said: “Work­ers at the store has a pas­sion to help their com­mu­nity and its im­por­tant to re­mem­ber fundrais­ing is fun. Who wouldn’t want to be part of it, and with­out the support of their col­leagues and cus­tomers none of this would be pos­si­ble.”
