Store’s festive fun
Staff at Asda Toryglen celebrated a Christmas cracker recently.
They were full of festive cheer after taking part in a huge amount of fundraising over the past 12 months.
The store has raised a whopping £46,500 for various good causes.
Thanks to kindhearted shoppers, Asda Toryglen was the top fundraising store in the West Coast for Radio Clyde Cash For Kids, who received £15,000 to help and support local children over the year.
Local schools and groups come into the store over the year to bag pack and fundraise and recently local primary schools and the Salvation Army have entertained the customers.
Through the Asda Foundation, community groups have received £1800 from Asda’s Chosen by You Given By Us program.
Toryglen Community Hall Pensioners received £500 to help with their Christmas Celebrations and £ 500 was given to Castlemilk Family Day Christmas event.
Toryglen Afterschool Care were delighted when they received £300 to help with their Christmas celebrations.
Minnesota Fats Snooker Club received £ 300 to help and support all the great community work they do with the pensioners and children at Christmas Time.
The store donated their Christmas tree to the Toryglen Community Base and helped with their Christmas fair and the Salvation army were delighted with the response for their Christmas Appeal.
And at the beginning of the year Asda Toryglen sold 750 CDs for the Clutha Appeal which raised a further £3750.
Elizabeth Arbuckle, community life champion, was delighted at the total achieved.
She said: “Workers at the store has a passion to help their community and its important to remember fundraising is fun. Who wouldn’t want to be part of it, and without the support of their colleagues and customers none of this would be possible.”
