The big talking point on our social media sites this week was the news the council were st to take action against commuters parking their cars on Reid Street or Caledonia Avenue in Rutherglen. Here’s what you had to say: “Council should take action in cambuslang too and most of the car that are taking up our space are council workers and am feed up with it you can’t even take you car out for 30 min with out the council workers stealing your spaces or the other building beside it with the people who work in there”- Derek Morton (via Facebook)

“Its not from people going to the train station. Its the council workers that are based in the building across from the police station as they park outside my house on daily basis too on mainstreet”- Iain McDougall (via Facebook)

“The whole problem is that year after year the number of available spaces are being cut. Residents need to park, but so do workers and everyone else. You are encouraged to park the car and take the train or the bus but then the spaces are not provided to allow this to happen. There needs to be some new car parks.”- Elaine Nicol (via Facebook)

“Derek, the council doesn’t care. I have 6yr old twins (one of which is wheelchair bound) and a 4yr old. My daughter has been denied a disabled parking bay 3 times. They say parking is adequate even though half the time it is impossible to open my doors adequately because of bad parking x” - Catherine Noble (via Facebook)

“If there are no yellow lines people are entitled to park where they want. I have never seen people park over driveways whenever ive been in Reid St”- Lesley McGoldrick (via Facebook)

“It’s abysmal. The council traffic nobodies skulk around looking to ticket the heinous, lawless miscreants that park a tyre over a single yellow line on Hamilton Road yet turn a blind eye to cars parked-up on the pavement all day on the next street.”- Murray A. Nix (via Facebook)

“It’s been like that for years even when I went to the old stonelaw high school and one of my school friends stayed there”- Stephen Harbinson (via Facebook) There was also support for the proposed Two72 project in Rutherglen:

“Get it built!!! Stick a cinema in it too” - Sean Lyall (via Facebook)

“Great news x all cinemas are a distance to here wen u need to go via bus or train x this is great idea x”- Suzie Neill (via Facebook) Lots of you followed last week’s election hustings on our Twitter feed, making your points about the candidates and parties.
