Vigo Thieves set to play intimate spring gig

- Mark Pirie

Highly-acclaimed Lanarkshire rockers Vigo Thieves are getting set to play an intimate spring gig on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.

The Wishaw band, who have been hotly tipped as ‘the next big thing’ will play the exclusive gig at Loch Lomond Holiday Park at the end of this month.

Vigo Thieves can put claim to being the first unsigned band to sell out King Tut’s two nights in a row and have since packed out The Arches and O2 ABC.

The band are also responsible for the Euro 2016 football anthem Believe which supports the Tartan Army and is played at all of the Scotland home matches.

Ross Coutts, an employee of Argyll Holidays Group, which owns Loch Lomond Holiday Park couldn’t ‘believe’ he’d won a competition to have the band play a private show.

The gig will be just for Ross and his friends, as well as people staying at the hotel.

Lead singer of the five-piece Stevie Jukes has admitted that the gig was not their usual kind of show.

The frontman said: “This is completely different to the gigs we usually play, but the park looks stunning and we can’t wait to play to an intimate crowd overlooking the loch.”

Ross, who works at the Holiday Park, had also held off cashing in his chance to have a private session performed for him and his friends, as he knew there were some new hot tubs on the way.

He said: “I knew that the banks of Inveruglas would be the perfect spot to have a private gig,.

“So I thought I’d ask and wait until the company had launched their new hot tub lunges so we could watch the gig in the lap of luxury.

“We’ll not be greedy though, we’ll let the other holiday makers enjoy the Vigo Thieves too.”

The Lanarkshire rockers have also been selected as the soundtrack for the hotel’s new advertising campaign.

The band have been on a long road to building their name after being described by T in the Park boss Geoff Ellis as the “hottest new band in Scotland.”

Lisa Allan, head of Marketing for Argyll Holidays, added: “We selected Vigo Thieves for the soundtrack of our new advertising campaign as we felt that they encapsulate the spirit of Scotland perfectly through their melodies, musical talent and lyrics. I’m delighted the band will be playing an intimate gig.”
