Clyde ready to finish season

Bully Wee prepared for huge revamp

- Kenny Smith

Clyde will draw the veil over the 2014/ 15 season this Saturday when they host old rivals Queen’s Park at Broadwood.

The Bully Wee, who reached the playoffs last season under former manager Jim Duffy, will almost certainly finish the current season in the bottom half of the table.

Manager Barry Ferguson has vowed to make a clear-out over the summer after watching Clyde win only their 12th league game of the season on Saturday.

David Marsh netted the winner against Montrose, but Ferguson admitted it was scant consolation for a dismal season.

He said: “I face a full rebuild of the team and need players who know how to win.”

Speaking after Saturday’s match, the former Rangers and Scotland captain told the Clyde website: “We can play a lot better, but to get three points away from home is a good result.

“I was also pleased with the clean sheet, although their chances came from our own individual mistakes, which has been a problem all season.

“I thought we controlled the second half and should have put the game to bed sooner.

“We need to be more clinical in front of goal and the pressure we were put under in the last few minutes could have been avoided.”

Off the field, Clyde were given a boost when 1A Naismith Ltd signed up to the Clyde FC Business Club. Managing Director Ian Naismith is a fully qualified domestic and non-domestic energy assessor and green deal advisor.

Rutherglen man Gary Hosie, Clyde FC Business Club Manager said: “We are delighted to have 1A Naismith Ltd and Ian on board and I believe they will be a great asset to the other sponsors from the Business Club and also the football club.”

Ian added: “I am delighted to be an official partner of Clyde Football Club and also part of the Business Club.

“It’s a great platform to showcase my business and an opportunity to network and forge good relationships with the other businesses involved.”
