Friends join forces for park clean up
The Friends of Cambuslang Park were clean and green at the weekend.
Adults and child volunteers gathered at the Cairns Road entrance on Saturday, and were delighted by the fact they were able to tidy up and plant bulbs on a warm, dry day.
They helped get areas of the park into shape, to encourage more visitors to go there over the summer months.
Chairman Edward Cais said:“We had a beautiful afternoon for it.
“We were joined by the Brownies, who turned out in force and without whom we would not have managed. They did a great job of the planting before spreading out all over the park to pick up litter.
“In both ways they are helping to make the park a nicer place for everyone, and what better way to improve the environment than to start at home.
“It is gratifying for anyone involved in planting one year to see what they have planted coming up the following year.”
One of the volunteers was Cambuslang West councillor Richard Tullett.
He added:“The Friends of the Cambuslang Park do such a great job at both promoting and taking care of the park.
“It was great to go along to their park clean up and spring planting at the weekend and I would encourage everyone to support the events that are planned in the summer months.”
