Get growing for Rotary

Gardeners will have a chance to buy plants for their gardens this Saturday May (15) when the 113th (Burnside) Scout Group hold their annual plant sale and coffee morning.

The sale which will be held in the Scout Hall, Crawfurd Road, Burnside, and will be open from 10 am until 1pm.

There will be plenty of Rutherglen Rotary Club is seeking the help of Reformer readers who are keen gardeners.

Members of the Rotary Club are planning a plant fayre at the Abbeyfield House complex on Stonelaw Drive, Rutherglen, on Thursday, May 23, in aid of Abbeyfield and other local charities, and hope green- fingered readers will donate bedding plants or other garden shrubs to help make this a real winner for everyone.

The event will run from approximat­ely 11am till bedding plants, bushes and arrangemen­ts on sale to enhance everybody’s gardens as well as a bookstall and tea room.

Group committee member Jim Bolton said: “This is our annual plant sale and is eagerly awaited by gardeners in the local community. It comes at a time when, hopefully, the 1pm. Rotary Club president Ian Wilson said: “We know there are people who just love growing plants and if extra items can be sold to others then these funds can provide support for local good causes.

“This is a win- win situation for everyone in our community.”

Anyone who can and would like to help should phone Ian Wilson on 0791 367 1567 and discuss with him what you can do to assist with their cause. problems of frost have gone and gardens are ready to be filled up with plants for the summer. All our plants are reasonably priced and should suit all pockets.

“As well as selling plants, we would welcome any donations to sell, as will donations of home baking and sweets for the tearoom and cake and candy stall.”
