Pearce (11) also makes it through school without a day off through ill health

Another pupil who has shown remarkable dedication to his studies is young Pearce Cannon from Toryglen.

Pearce ( 11) attends St Fillan’s Primary School in Cathcart and is due to move to Holyrood secondary after the summer.

And Pe a rce was presented with a special award by the school after not missing a single day of class from primary one straight through to primary seven.

Pearce lives on Ardmory Avenue with mum Clare and dad Michael.

Mum Clare (44) said: “I think he’s got an immune system of steel!

“He’s managed to dodge chicken pox twice! And when you consider there’s around 500 children who go to St Fillan’s, it really is remarkable he’s managed to do it.”

Pearce has one brother Michael (20) and four sisters, Erin (17), Grace (5), Angelina (3) and Ciara (14).

And his remarkable immune system seems to run in the family, as his brothers and sisters are rarely off school.

Clare added: “My kids are rarely sick though. His big sister Ciara has only missed one day of school when she was in primary six.”

Pearce also leads a healthy l i f e s t y l e, which Clare also thinks contributed to his terrific record: “The school also ask what his secret is, but all in all I’m not sure!

“He’s got good genes, but he also eats well, although he is a big eater!

“He exercises and does the martial art Tukido.

“He wants to keep his record going and go through Holyrood with a 100 per cent record.”
