Cy­cling fes­ti­val fun for all

Cam­Glen Bike Town will hold a cy­cling fes­ti­val in Over­toun Park on Satur­day, July 11.

The event aims to pro­mote and celebrate the“fab­u­lous­ness of cy­cling, to ap­peal to all types of cy­clists; young and old, new­bies and vet­er­ans, sports and ev­ery­day cy­clists, and the not-yet-dis­cov­ered­how-bril­liant-it-is non-cy­clists.“

There will be a gala-day type at­mos­phere with com­mu­nity in­for­ma­tion stalls and cy­cle-re­lated events on of­fer.

The Cam­Glen Bike Town team will be avail­able with in­for­ma­tion and ad­vice and com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions in­vited in­clude Friends of Over­toun Park, Over­toun Com­mu­nity Grow­ing Group, South La­nark­shire Leisure and Go Bike cy­cle cam­paign­ing group. It is hoped mu­sic will be pro­vided by Cam­Glen Ra­dio.

Chil­dren aged eight years and over will be able to have a go at BMX cy­cling, thanks to lo­cal ex­treme sports pro­ject Rad­worx, who are run­ning a work­shop at the BMX track from 11am-3pm, with all equip­ment pro­vided.

Ac­tiv­i­ties on of­fer in­clude how to use the track when rac­ing, do­ing a jump class on one of the jumps, mini com­pe­ti­tions through­out the day, with a fi­nal race to fin­ish.

Free cy­cling good­ies will be pro­vided to the first 50 peo­ple who ar­rive by bike.
