Comic JD is a top Scot as he heads for seaside pier for summer show

On bill at a top Blackpool gig

- Ian Bunting

An Airdrie comedian is off to the seaside after being named on the bill of a top gig in Blackpool later this month.

JD Brown joins five of the country’s finest up-and-coming funnymen for ‘6 Shots of Scotch – The Best of Scotland’s New Comedy Stars’ on the North Pier stage on Thursday, July 23.

The 33-year-old will perform alongside Steve McCullough, Joe McSloy, Joe McKeown, Pablo Serski and Graham Barrie as he brings his storytelling comedic style to holidaymakers.

The former Virgin’s New Stand Up of the Year is delighted to follow in the footsteps of some of Britain’s finest comics by gracing the North Pier stage.

JD said: “The six of us were all approached by Tony Jo, a comedian from the 1980s and 90s who is the director of the North Pier theatre, about putting a night of new Scottish comedy on in Blackpool.

“We discussed a few ins and outs of the show and it was booked and confirmed.

“To say we’re looking forward to the show is an understatement. The North Pier theatre has hosted some of the biggest and greatest names in comedy throughout its history.

“To be listed as playing there and being on the same stage is just overwhelming.

“People coming along can expect laughs a plenty. We are six of the best new comedians in Scotland and with that comes some of the best new comedy around.

“Expect a few choice words and subjects that make life that little bit uncomfortable turned on their head so that you can laugh and live a little bit easier.”
