Woman denies benefits charge
A Castlemilk woman has been accused of gaining over £20,000 of benefit payments to which she was not entitled.
Janet Margaret Gavan, of Ardencraig Street, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday ( July 21).
It is alleged that the 39-yearold, between February 4, 2008, and May 15, 2008, and between July 26, 2010, and December 25, 2013, failed to give prompt notification to the department of work and pensions of a change of circumstances that alledgedly affected her entitlement to Widowed Mothers Allowance.
It is alleged that Gavan was living in the household with a man who was in full time employment and thus gained £22,503.92 to which she was not entitled.
Gavan pleaded not guilty. The case was adjourned and Gavan was ordained to appear on August 4.
