News in brief from around the local churches
Stonelaw Parish Church is inviting children in P1-P7 to become‘Polar Explorers’from August 10-14.
The club will last from 10.30am to 12.30pm and there will be games, music, drama and praise on offer. The Ice Theatre (movie time) will be in operation from August 10-13 and will last from 2.30pm till 4pm.
Stonelaw Parish Church is also inviting the local community into the building.
The Meeting Place door is open to the public every weekday.
Visitors can drop in, drink coffee, browse the range of Fairtrade products and select a second-hand book.
The idea of the Meeting Place is to provide an informal, comfortable location for people to drop by without any obligation.
It is open every Monday to Friday, 10.30am-12.30pm, and also Thursday afternoons 2-4pm, Wednesday evenings 7.30-9.30pm and from 10.30am–12.30pm each Saturday.
Rutherglen Old Parish Church are holding Thoughtful Thursdays each week.
This is a chance to spend a quiet time in the church, on Rutherglen Main Street, from noon till 2pm.
Tea and biscuits will be available, but bring your own packed lunch.
Croftfoot Parish Church will have its usual Rise and Shine childrens’club from August 3-7. The Infusion group for teenagers will also start tonight (Wednesday) at 7.30pm.
The church now holds two Sunday evening services each month. They take place on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.
A healing service will be held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm.
The church will continue to have the healing hour from 7.30-8.30pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Cambuslang Parish Church’s community cafe continues to operate.
The organisers invite the local community to go along and enjoy a drink and a tasty snack in warm, comfortable surroundings.
It is held in the church hall at the Kirkhill building on Cairns Road on Wednesdays from10am-noon.
Burnside Blairbeth Church are running a new service on the first Saturday of every month in the Rodger Memorial building in Kirkriggs Avenue.
Messy Church is aimed at families. It starts with an hour of crafts and games, where those taking part might get messy, and is followed by a celebration with a Bible story and singing, finishing with a two-course meal together.

The church is holding a weekly coffee morning until August 13 on Thursdays from 10am-noon in the Roger Memorial building at 1 Kirkriggs Avenue.
Rutherglen West and Wardlawhill Church’s weekly friendship cafe offers a warm welcome.
The cafe runs every Tuesday from 10am-12pm in West and Wardlawhill Parish Church in Western Avenue, with children welcome.
Flemington Hallside Church continues to welcome the public to its community cafe each week.
The cafe runs two days a week and is open from 12-2pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Flemington Hallside Church is in Hamilton Road.
The Salvation Army in Rutherglen has a number of clubs for kids each week.
On Tuesdays there is Kids Alive! JAM (Jesus and Me). There are songs, crafts, games and a Bible story from 5-6.30pm for ages 5-11.
Each Wednesday the Kids Club, for children aged 5-11 also runs from 5-6.30pm.
There are fun, games and a tuck shop at Sunshine Corner toddlers group, every Tuesday morning from 9am.
St Columbkille’s Parish Church in Rutherglen are inviting people to get crafty.
For the church are running a weekly craft group.
It meets every Tuesday from 11am until 1pm.
Activities include knitting, crochet, sewing and chatting.
Anyone who would like to join would be made welcome.
The church are then running their First Tuesday Club. The club was established to provide a forum for people suffering from Dementia and of equal importance for their Carers.
The club meets on the first Tuesday of every month between 1.30pm and 3.30pm in the church hall.
St. Columbkille’s Charismatic Prayer Group are continuing to meet weekly.
The focus of Charismatic Renewal and a desire to be able to give Praise and Glory to the Lord. The group meet every Wednesday from 7pm till 8.30pm in the Hall, room one.
