Evening at the Tudor is a knockout

-

A Cambuslang pub held a fundraising night for a local boxing gym who are in financial difficulty.

The Tudor Inn, located on Hamilton Road, held a fundraiser last Friday (July 31) to raise money for Durie’s Boxing Club of Rutherglen.

As previously reported in the Reformer, the club, who operate out of Hillhouse Industrial Estate, who have over 200 members on their books, were in severe financial difficulty.

Coach Archie Durie had started writing to businesses to try and secure sponsorship to save the club, which teetered on the brink over just a couple of thousand pounds.

Liz White, who runs the Tudor, daughter Tracy Foyer and her sister Cat Foyer arranged the night at short notice, which included a disco and karaoke with raffles and games.

The night raised £500 with the Tudor making a donation of £300 to take the total to over £800.

Coach of the club Archie Durie said:“A Big thanks also to the Mayhem Boxing Babes for supplying the lovely ring ladies to go round all night, adding that boxing bit of glamour selling raffles and taking donations.

“To the Yardleys for all their help in organising the night and to Stephanie’s Spray Tan, Halfway Bowling Club and A Wafer a Cone ya Nuggett, Spices, The Mecca Bingo and Carly’s the Butchers who all donated prizes. “Also thanks to everyone who attended.” The club are still looking for sponsorship. Anyone interested can contact Archie on 07590 515 576.
