Teenager denies theft bids from unlocked cars

A Croftfoot teenager appeared at court accused of stealing and attempting to steal items from cars throughout Rutherglen.

Peter John Smithson, of Crofthill Road, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Smithson (19) is accused of entering an unsecured vehicle at Melrose Avenue on March 2 and attempting to steal items.

He is also accused of entering an unsecured vehicle on Limeside Avenue on March 3 and attempting to steal items.

On the same day he is accused of entering an unsecured motor vehicle on Ettrick Crescent and stealing a quantity of tools and money.

On March 3 at Main Street he is accused of behaving in a threatenin­g and abusive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering threats.

Smithson maintained a plea of not guilty and is due to reappear on September 7. Bail was continued. A Castlemilk man appeared at court on a heroin charge this week.

Henry MacKay, of Glenacre Drive, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

MacKay (42) is accused of possessing the class A drug diamorphin­e with intent to supply to others in Castlemilk Drive on May 31, 2013.

MacKay is also accused of failing to appear for a diet at Glasgow Sheriff Court on June 4, 2014, after being granted bail on June 3, 2013.

MacKay pleaded not guilty and is due to reappear for trial on September 29. Bail was continued. A Castlemilk woman appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday on several charges.

Jaqueline Bowers of Barlia Drive, is accused of acting in a racially aggravated manner to a person by pushing her on the back, shouting and wearing at her and making racist remarks on July 21, 2014, at Argyle Street in Glasgow.

Bowers is also accused of possessing a class B drug, namely cannabis resin.

The 39-year-old is also accused of possessing a class B drug, namely cannabis.

Bowers pleaded not guilty and is due to reappear for trial on September 9. Bail was continued.
