Janet Low is named as a Deputy Lieutenant for Lanarkshire
Janet Low of Cambuslang was one of six people to be named as a Deputy Lieutenant for Lanarkshire that was commissioned by the Lord Lieutenant on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen.
They were welcomed to their new role by Lord-Lieutenant Mushtaq Ahmad OBE at a ceremony in the Civic Centre, Motherwell on October 14.
Janet is a Development Co-ordinator for the Hands On Project at Lightburn Elderly Association Project (LEAP), which provides support services for older people.
She also works with local Brownie groups, in the Cambuslang, Rutherglen, East Kilbride, Strathaven and Stonehouse areas.
Janet was named as Deputy Lieutenant along with Shuming Kong from Hamilton, Derrick Hannan from Airdrie, Liaquat Ali JP of Bothwell, Retired Colonel Stuart Roberts and Millar Stoddart.
Millar, from Lanark, is retired after 41 years of service in local government but works part-time as a sports reporter.
He is involved with the YMCA both locally and nationally, is Chairman of Clydesdale Sports Council and South Lanarkshire Disability Sport, and a Board Member of the Scottish Association of Local Sports Councils.
Lord-Lieutenant Mushtaq Ahmad said:“I would like to congratulate the new Depute Lieutenants, and I look forward to working with them during their commission in serving the people of Lanarkshire.”
