Players serve up a summer of success
Cambuslang LawnTennis Club enjoyed a busy and successful summer this year.
Ladies champion, Emma Green, made a clean sweep of medals in the Senior Club championships as she won all three medals that were up for grabs in her categories.
Emma and Angela Breddy won the Ladies doubles and claimed gold in the mixed doubles with Greg Hannah.
The Ladies singles final was played by Moira Russell and Emma Green, in September, with Emma capping a great club championship by securing her third winners medal and her first as Ladies champion.
Meanwhile, Stewart Campbell won the Gents plate competition and the Gents doubles were won by Tony Green and Michael Reade.
For the second year running the Gents final was contested by Ralph Kirkwood and Danny Lavery with Danny winning his third club championship in four years.
A Junior finals day was also played out on Sunday , September 13 and a number of highly competitive matches took place over a wide range of categories.
Winner of the red ball event was Emily Donachie with Eilidh Lamb runner up.
In the orange ball event Evan Rankin won with Valentino Smith runner up. Evan Rankin was also involved in the green ball tournament and was runner up to winner Christopher Collins.
The afternoon session was for under 12’s and under 18’s and there was a number of close matches featuring some talented young players.
The final in both age categories were contested by the same pair with Ross Young defeating Russell Dickson in both matches.
In addition, the club organised a family fun day on Sunday, September 6 for parents and children of eight and under who are both members of the club.
Parent memberships entitle a parent to play at the club with their children and is available at £25.
Graeme Russell of the tennis club said: “The day involved a variety of fun games and tennis based activities and the families who participated had a great time and enjoyed some rare summer sunshine.”
