- Stratton Williams

A man faces a charge of abducting a female police officer during an alleged incident in Cambuslang, last week.

Shaban Khan (28), is said to have assaulted constable Tyne Rushbury by seizing her by the body and attempting to pull her into a house at Wellshot Drive in a bid to abduct her.

Along with Mohammad Imran Khan (32), and Yusuf Khan (34), he faces further claims that he behaved in a threatening manner by shouting and swearing.

Yusuf Khan also faces allegations that he assaulted Constable John Donaldson by repeatedly attempting to push him on the body and struck him on the body with his knee.

Mohammad Imran Khan and Shaban Khan are also said to have hindered Constable Tyne Rushbury from helping Constable Donaldson detain a prisoner.

Shaban Khan is alleged to have carried out the offences while on bail.

All three accused appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court last week and denied the charges.

Shaban Khan was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court again this week.

Mohammad Imran Khan and Yusuf Khan were bailed to appear at a later date.

All three were arrested following a “disturbance” at a house in Wellshot Drive.

Police had swarmed round the leafy suburb, last Tuesday.

Officers were stationed in front of the house as patrol vehicles cruised the area. A police helicopter also hovered overhead.

At the time, people took to social media as the news broke.

One Facebook quote said: “My son saw two being put in the back of a police car, said it looks scary.”
