Rutherglen Reformer

PANTOMIME

- Jonathan Geddes

It’s that time of year again... oh yes it is!

This year’s Christmas panto is now in full swing at Rutherglen Town Hall.

Sleeping Beauty arrived at the venue last weekend, and will beat there until just before Christmas.

Starring former Britain’s Got Talent contestant Edward Reid as Fairy Lovabelle, the show will offer up a magical tale for kids of all ages.

Edward told the Reformer: “I’m looking forward to being back at Rutherglen Town Halls Panto as I always get a great welcome there.

“I hope everybody enjoys the show as my feet are louping running around in these high heels every day!”

The plot is the classic Sleeping Beauty story, with a few added twists.

It sees the King and Queen celebrate the birth of their beautiful baby daughter by throwing a huge party with everyone invited!.

Well, almost everyone is invited, and once the wicked Fairy Horrendabelle has got wind of the news she starts to plan a terrible surprise of her own for the King and Queen.

Armed with an evil spell and a spinning wheel she places a curse on the baby princess that only true love’s kiss can break.

It’s up to the good fairies, Fairy Lovabelle and Fairy Sensibelle to save the day, with a little extra help from Muddles the brave but ever so silly court jester. Will good triumph over evil? Will true love’s kiss break the spell? And just where exactly do you find a prince in South Lanarkshire?

All of these questions promise to be answered in the fun-filled tale that’s aimed at families.

The pantomime runs from tomorrow (December 17) until Wednesday December 23, with times varying each day.

Tickets can be booked in person from the venue, by calling 0141 613 5700 or by visiting w ww.sllcboxoffice.co.uk
