Golden wedding couple celebrate their special day
50 years together
A happy Cambuslang co u p l e r e cent l y celebrated 50 years of married life.
Grace and Eric McLaren marked their golden wedding anniversary on August 27.
The pair tied the knot at St Anne’s Church, Dennistoun, Glasgow, on that date in 1965.
And Grace (75), and Eric ( 79), were among couples from across South and North Lanarkshire who attended a special joint golden wedding bash in Motherwell Civic Centre.
“It was a lovely event. Very well organised and a nice treat,” said Grace, from Lightburn Road.
“It was nice to meet up with other couples celebrating their special day and have a wee chat with them,” added Eric.
During his working life Eric was a postie and then a hackney cab owner/driver for more than 20 years.
He was also a keen cyclist in his younger days – even managing to pedal as far as Ireland on his travels.
Grace devoted all her time and effort to raising the couple’s three children, Katrina, Lorraine and Eric.
Eric and Grace also have nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Daughter Katrina praised her parents and congratulated them on their special day.
“My mum and dad are a lovely couple who live for all their grandchildren and I’m delighted they had such a great time on their big day,” she said.
The family met up for a celebratory meal in the Parkville Hotel, Blantyre, to mark Grace and Eric’s special occasion.
