Church plan Christmas with a twist
St Cuthbert’s church are hosting a Christmas service with a twist this year as the community recognises the sizeable Kenyan influence in the area.
The church have sent out 400 invitations to the service to be held on December 20 and they are expecting a good turnout.
There will be carol singing, readings and messages about the meaning of Christmas on the day as well as mince pies and refreshments with a twist, with the African community encouraged to bring their own flavour to the proceeding.
Rev Dr Colin Dow of St Cuthbert’s is looking forward to the service and recognising the African theme of the day.
He said: “We are really excited for the service and expecting around 40 or 50 people to attend.
“We have a lot of Kenyans that attend the church and they always bring their own distinctive flavours in every way. From their singing to the food that they bring, this year it will be Christmas with a Kenyan twist.”
The church recently held its Christmas fayre and it proved a massive success despite the poor weather.
