Elba gunning for new role

Idris Elba may be about to enjoy some bullet time with the news the Brit is the frontrunner to play lead character Roland Deschain in the first entry of a planned Dark Tower franchise.

The Luther star (pictured, right) would saddle up as titular hero The Gunslinger in the long gestating adaptation of Stephen King’s series of novels.

Rumours also suggest Will Smith may have Batman in his sights as Warner Bros are toying with the idea of including his Suicide Squad character Deadshot in their new standalone flick for the Dark Knight.
