Clyde win four on the bounce

-

Clyde............... 2 East Fife.......... 0 Clyde won their fourth successive victory at home to struggling East Fife on Saturday.

In the 34th minute Ferguson fired in Scott Linton’s lifted cross to the back post for the opening goal.

Ferguson scored again six minutes from time when John Gibson turned defence into attack with a swift clearance, and the striker controlled and dispatched past Goodfellow.

Clyde boss Barry Ferguson said: “In the first half we were really good but I was just a bit worried because we didn’t have a game for three weeks and it started to show in signs in the second half.

“I didn’t want to use it as an excuse but I knew it was going to happen. Three weeks without a game is not ideal but they’ve trained really hard .

“It was a good result, good three points and we’ll move on to the next home game.

Clyde host Arbroath this weekend before a trip to leaders Annan Athletic on Boxing Day.

Ferguson has been linked as the favourite to take over as St Mirren boss.

The ex-Scotland international has won praise for his leadership and could succeed Ian Murray, who quit after the Buddies’ loss to Dumbarton on Saturday.
