Muir aims at shutout record

- Murray Spooner

Queen’s Park goalkeeper Wullie Muir claimed his seventh clean sheet for the season as he helped his side to a 1-0 victory over struggling Arbroath.

Muir made a string of saves that kept the Red Lichties out and was delighted to have kept the ball out his net for the second consecutive game.

His focus now turns to Saturday’s match with Elgin City, who have jumped up to fourth spot in the Scottish League Two table, two points behind the Hampden Park side.

Muir said:“It’s good to get a clean sheet against a decent team in Arbroath and it was good to get a clean sheet during the week as well..”

Muir is halfway to beating his record for last year after chalking up 14 clean sheets in the 2014/15 season.

He praised manager Gus MacPherson for the impact he has made since joining the club in January 2014.

“He said we’ve done well, keep believing and keep winning games and see where it takes us,”Wullie added.

“He’s done well since he’s came in and he’s good to work under as well. He tells you if you’re doing well and if you’re not doing well he definitely tells you.”
