Bright new dawn as teen star launches EP

- Ian Bunting

For Robbi McFaulds a lifelong dream has been realised after the teenage singersongwriter released his much-anticipated debut EP.

The Airdrie musician launched ‘The Morning After’ at a special sold-out event in Glasgow’s Queen Margaret University – the culmination of a year of hard work in the recording studio.

Robbi, 17, said: “The EP is called ‘The Morning After’, which is the name of the title track.

“It is a mash-up of pop and indie sounds and includes five tracks in all.

“I was working on the EP the whole of last year in the Rocket Science

Studios in Glasgow and the two guys who run the studio, Michael Bannister and Ross Hamilton, wrote the ‘I Know, You Know, We Know’ single from the record.

“I am chuffed to bits to see the EP finally released and it’s a really proud moment as I’ve always wanted to be a musician.

“The final product is really good and I’m very happy with it, and the fact that people have been responding well to the EP.”

Robbi continued: “At the launch night in Queen Margaret University I performed all five tracks from the EP as well as some cover versions.

“The event was a capacity sell-out and the crowd really seemed to enjoy themselves.

“I got the chance to meet with quite a few of my fans off-stage and some of them came quite a long way for the launch.

“We sold some copies of the EP too and it was an amazing night. I’d like to thank everyone who came along and helped my EP launch to be an even more special occasion.”

Busy Robbi is just about to bring the curtain down on his 24-date UK tour, which has taken in venues across Scotland and the likes of London, Liverpool and Bristol.

The trekking teen was en-route to Leeds when he told the Ticket: “The tour has been absolutely incredible and I have visited some wonderful locations.

“The last show is in St Andrew’s and the crowds have been responding well to my music.

“It’s 24 dates all-in so I’m starting to tire a little bit; but I have been grabbing rests when I can and all of the effort is hugely worthwhile.

“This is my first UK tour, but I certainly hope it won’t be my last.”

‘The Morning After’ is available now on Amazon, Spotify and iTunes, with hard copies also supplied by Robbi at his Twitter and Facebook pages.
