Pete’s ready to Cast a spell in support of Britpop stars

-

A busy couple of months await Pete MacLeod as the Coatbridge musician prepares to support one of the biggest Britpop bands – and spin the decks at his debut DJ set.

The popular singer-songwriter will share a stage with Scouse rockers Cast during two gigs next month, in Edinburgh and Leeds.

Pete works for the same musical label as the touring superstars, Alan McGee’s Creation Management, and will realise a long-term ambition when he steps out to support the group.

He told the Ticket:“Twenty years ago I organised a bus for my friends and I to go and see Cast in Livingston at the Forum.

“We left from Kirkwood Sports Barn in Coatbridge, a place where several of us would gather in our youth.

“We all had a great laugh on the bus and Cast were great. I’m very pleased to announce that 20 years on from that night I’ll be supporting Cast in Edinburgh at the Liquid Rooms on April 7 and in Leeds on April 23.

“The Leeds gig is now sold out, but tickets for the Edinburgh show are still available, from tickets-scotland.com.”

Before his supporting slots with Cast, though, Pete is hosting ‘A Balearic Beat Boutique’, his first ever DJ set.

Pete will use decks and effects to re-edit tracks from his as-yet-untitled upcoming album with celebrated producer Youth.

The Kirkwood rocker will be supported by manager Alan McGee, with a two-hour set of Acid House and indie tracks which have inspired him over the years, and talented Glasgow DJ and producer Craig Moog, who will kick off the night with a set made up of Cosmic Disco and down tempo Balearic beats.

The DJ showcase takes place in The Berkeley Suite on Glasgow’s Charing Cross on Saturday, March 12, from 6pm to 11pm and advance tickets – priced £5 – are available now from www. tickets-scotland.com
