Serious assault

A 46-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with a serious assault outside a flat in Rutherglen that resulted in another male being taken to hospital.

Robert Brennan is claimed to have been involved in the disturbance at Slenavon Avenue, Springhall on Thursday morning, March 3.

The victim, named locally as John Reid, 45, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Emergency services attended the address in the early hours of the morning and cordoned off the street.

A spokeswoman said: “At 6.40am a man at an address in Slenavon Avenue was assaulted and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

“A 46-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

“He was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, March 4, in connection with a serious assault.

“The injured man is still in hospital at Queen Elizabeth University.”
