Bowlers praised for their CHAS fundrais­ing ef­forts

A bowl­ing club in Ruther­glen has been thanked af­ter rais­ing £5,500 for a spe­cial cause.

The Friends of CHAS club are based in the West of Scot­land In­door Bowl­ing Cen­tre at Shaw­field.

Over the past eight years, the group have been rais­ing funds for the Chil­dren’s Hospice As­so­ci­a­tion Scot­land.

In that time, the vol­un­teers have raised over £27,000 for the char­ity.

They handed their lat­est cheque to CHAS fundraiser, Sa­man­tha Reilly.

Sa­man­tha said:“The mem­bers of Friends of CHAS Bowl­ing Club should be very proud.

“I al­ways look for­ward to see­ing them and find­ing out about their fan­tas­tic fundrais­ing. Thank you to each and ev­ery one of them for their con­tin­ued sup­port and en­thu­si­asm, what an achieve­ment.”

Kerr Reid, Friends of CHAS Bowl­ing Club trea­surer added:“The cheque for £5,500 was the largest amount we have ever pre­sented to CHAS at an AGM.

“Ev­ery­one helps in their own way and on be­half of the club; I would like to thank all of the mem­bers for their con­tri­bu­tions. Big or small, it all makes a dif­fer­ence.”
