Volunteer driver required

A local support body for charities and community groups is actively seeking a volunteer driver from the Rutherglen and Cambuslang areas to join their company.

Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire ( VASLan) is looking for a car owner with some free time who would like to give something back to the community.

The role will provide a valuable service by t ransporting and accompanying elderly and disabled people to Glasgow NHS hospitals and local NHS clinics in Cambuslang and Rutherglen.

Elderly or infirm people may have difficulties in walking which causes problems for them to seek public transport. They may not be financially able to rely on taxis so help from a volunteer driver will provide a lifeline for them when they have no alternative means of transport.

Volunteers are reimbursed 40p in the mile and drivers can work Monday to Friday, morning or afternoon.

VASLan only recruit volunt e e r s f rom the Rutherglen and Cambuslang areas due to their funding criteria.
