Designer Rachel is behind campaign

-

The woman behind the check which is popping up all over Scotland to remind people to get checked for cancer is Rachel McMillan – a Glasgow-based fashion designer.

Speaking about her involvement in #GetChecked, Rachel said: “I immediately loved the concept behind this campaign.

“I wanted to help get such an important message out there in a bold, visual and creative way.

“Cancer is something that touches the lives of so many, me included.

“A close family member has had breast cancer twice, which was also the motivation behind me getting involved.

“I hope the check acts as a reminder to people to look more closely at their bodies and take time out of their busy lives to get checked if they have any concerns.”

Dr Paul Baughan, a GP, said: “Very often when someone is worried about cancer, it’s something they put to the back of their mind, either because they don’t want to face it or are worried about wasting their doctor’s time.

“However, timing is everything – the earlier a patient sees their doctor with their concerns, the quicker we can help, which could save their life. If you notice a change in your health, any change, phone today and book an appointment.

“You’re not wasting anyone’s time, Your GP is there to listen and to help.”
