Spartans lose out to Castlemilk

Spr’hall Spartans.2 C’milk Dynamo....4

Springhall Spartans took on title holders Castlemilk Dynamo in the Sunday Central AFL Premier at Glasgow Green.

The hosts were looking for another big scalp following the win over Treble 2 a fortnight ago.

In a closely fought first half there were chances for both teams, with the Dynamo keeper pulling off three top saves which spurred his side on. But in a 10 minute spell before half time, Castlemilk found the net twice, much to the dismay of the Springhall players who had matched their opposition until that point.

Spartans looked down and out after the break as they conceded another two goals within 10 minutes of the restart as Dynamo pressed the Springhall in defence.

However, to their credit Spartans continued to play in the style they have shown in recent games and were awarded a penalty after Neely was brought down in the box.

Hamilton stepped up to hit the penalty which the Dynamo keeper saved, but he kept his cool to slot home the rebound.

A second followed soon after. Cunningham found himself free in the box and fired in a shot which the Castlemilk goalkeeper saved brilliantly, only for it to come off the opposition captain and into the net.
